This should have been called "An Old Norse Reader" rather than "An Introduction to Old Norse," for it assumes more than some beginning students might be able to handle. Despite the valid criticisms of other reviewers here, however, I was surprised by how quickly I was able to read The Vineland Sagas in Old Norse after just a perusal of the grammatical overview found at the back of this book.
